Carbo resin, also known as carbomer, is a
polymer formed by chemical cross-linking of acrylic acid or
acrylate and allyl ether, including polyacrylic acid and long-chain
alkanol acrylate polymers. Its molecular structure contains acid
groups, so it has a certain degree of acidity, has hydrophilic
properties, and can be dissolved in water, ethanol and
glycerin.
Carbomer has the functions of thickening,
suspending, stabilizing the system, regulating the release of water
and active substances, and has simple process and good stability.
Therefore, it is a rheological modification widely used in personal
care products, pharmaceuticals and other fields.
Thickener.
Â
There are two main thickening mechanisms of
carbomer, which are neutralization thickening and hydrogen bond
thickening.
1. Neutralization and
thickening
Because it contains a certain amount of acid
groups, it needs to be neutralized with alkali during application.
After neutralization, the carboxyl group of the carbomer is
ionized. Because of the mutual repulsion of negative charges, the
molecular chain in it stretches into an expanded state, making it
larger in volume, and thus has a thickening
effect.
Â
2. Hydrogen bond
thickening
Carbomer molecules, as carboxyl donors, can
combine with one or more hydroxyl groups to form hydrogen bonds to
thicken. This reaction mechanism takes time. Commonly used hydroxyl
donors are non-ionic surfactants, polyols and so
on.
Â
The performance and application of common
carbomer series
Because of the difference in crosslinking
degree and molecular weight, Carbomer will have a lot of different
models, which can be divided into traditional series and new
polymers. The different types of carbomers are used in different
industries because of their different indicator capabilities.
Let's take a look at the performance and application of several
carbomers in the traditional
series.

Â
Carbomer has been affected by the new crown
epidemic, and its supply is already in short supply. After more
than ten years of research and development and production, Desheng
Biotechnology has accumulated a lot of experience in this field.
The product quality is guaranteed, and the price is low. There are
two models of Carbomer **0 and Carbomer **0. Welcome to
buy!
