Golgi membrane protein GP*3 antibody (GP*3 Antibody, GOLM1)
Golgi membrane protein 1, also known as Golgi membrane protein *3
(GP*3), Golgi phosphorylated protein 2 or GOLM1, is a member of the
GOLM1 / CASC4 family. GP*3 is commonly expressed in the body, and
it is mainly expressed by epithelial cells. GP*3 is highly
expressed in the colon, prostate, trachea, and stomach, but low in
testes, muscles, lymphoid tissues, white blood cells, and spleen.
GP*3 is rarely expressed in the liver of normal people, but when
hepatocytes are infected with viruses (HBV, HCV), it can cause a
sharp increase in GP*3 expression. Non-viral-induced liver disease
(such as alcoholic liver, autoimmune hepatitis) does not cause an
increase in the expression of GP*3, so increased expression of GP*3
in hepatocytes can be used as a sign of advanced liver disease.
Large amounts of GP*3 expression can be detected in hepatocyte
fusion giant cells of adult cytomegalovirus hepatitis (GCH) patient
tissues. GP*3 is generally expressed in epithelial cells of the
biliary tract, but not by liver cells.
