PRODUCT DETAILS
Jodix is used to prevent the effects of radioactive iodine
deposition on the thyroid gland in the event of a nuclear explosion
or accident. Radioactive iodine travels with the breathing air to
the lungs and is stored in the thyroid gland, allowing the thyroid
gland to receive a high dose of radiation. This can cause
hypothyroidism or late-onset thyroid tumors. The active
substance in Jodix tablets is potassium iodide, which blocks the
accumulation of radioactive iodine in the thyroid gland by *0 to
*9% when a single dose is taken as soon as the risk of radioactive
fallout becomes known. If the tablet is delayed by 3 to 4 hours,
the protective effect is only about *0%. The protective effect of a
single dose lasts for 1 to 2 days. Tablets should always be
available at home, in the workplace, and in shelters.
