Applications and welding considerations:
Titanium welding rods should be chemically clean and free of heavy oxide, absorbed moisture, grease, and dirt. Its bright finished with a proper ductility and smooth surface which contributes to feeding speed of automation equipment.
 
Titanium wire is used for welding filler material in MIG, TIG procedures. Welding procedures and equipments is similar to welding stainless steel and aluminum. Titanium and Titanium alloy is very active chemically over **8℃. Besides the considerations when welding austenitic stainless steel and aluminum, its necessary to take extra measures to protect the hot working area of welding seams and joints from air. When welding titanium and titanium alloy, only argon or helium gas, or the mixture gas of the both, are used as the protective atmosphere. The filler metal often matches to the base metal in grades. The correspondent filler metal of less chemical impurities than base metal helps to improve the ductility and avoid cracks. Filler metal and base metal should be cleaned up carefully before welding. The various grease accumulated during forming and machining must be cleaned up to avoid welding seam contamination.
