Description
Boron Nitride is a synthetic
technical ceramic material, which is available in powder, solid,
aerosol and liquid forms. It has out-standing thermal
characteristics; high thermal conductivity and excellent thermal
shock resistance and is stable in inert and reducing atmospheres up
to ***0 C, and in oxidizing atmospheres to **0 C. In its solid
form, Boron Nitride can easily be machined to close tolerances in
virtually any shape. After machining, it is ready for use without
additional heat treating or firing operations.
Boron Nitride Properties:
*Excellent thermal shock resistance
*High electrical resistivity
*Low density
*High thermal conductivity
*Isotropic (thermal conductance is different in different
planes)
*Corrosion resistant
*Good chemical inertness
*High temperature material
*Excellent lubricating properties
*Low coefficient of friction
*Non-wetting (without oxidization)
*High dielectric breakdown strength
*Excellent Machinability
Typical Uses of Boron Nitride
*Electronic parts - heat sinks, substrates, coil forms,
prototypes
*Boron doping wafers in silicon semiconductor processing
*Vacuum melting crucibles
*CVD crucibles
*Microcircuit packaging
*Sputtering targets
*High precision sealing, brazing, and metallizing fixtures
*Microwave tubes
*Horizontal caster break rings
*Low friction seals
*Plasma arc insulators
*High temperature furnace fixtures and supports
