Paraffin is a mixed saturation hydrocarbon which contain C*5~C*0, oxidized paraffin soap is made by the paraffin soap oxidation and saponification, it is abt. three elements:

Carboxylic acid, which occupied abt. *0% saturated carboxylic acid and abt. 5%~*0% hydroxy acid. The saturated acid hydrocarbon chain’s length is decided by the paraffin’s oxidized deepness. Usually, he lower melting point of the paraffin, the shorter of the hydrocarbon chain, and it will with much branches. If the melting point is higher, the hydrocarbon chain will longer, and it is mainly linear hydrocarbon. Carboxylic acid is the main element of the collector.

 

The main disadvantage of the oxidized paraffin is that when the temperature is low, the flotation effect is not so good, it will need to emulsify when you use it in the normal temperature. But as paraffin is very common, with low price, so it is a widely used collector now.
