Bonds very well with solvents being highly lipophilic when used as a thickener and is very stable, rarely crystallizing from the solvent when used. Used as a gelling agent when combined with many types of lipids including silicone oils as well as quite a number of essential oils offering sparkling clear thickened lipid preparations. Viscosity of thickened lipid mixtures depends on the amount used and may be varied to produce slightly viscous to stiff depending on the application. Application Topical lipid applications containing lanosterol impart a silky smooth feel and are ideal for use in lipgloss and lipsticks as well as deodorant sticks and insect repellant sticks.
