An electric motor (Motor) is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. It uses an energised coil (also known as a stator winding) to generate a rotating magnetic field which acts on a rotor (such as a squirrel-cage closed aluminium frame) to form a magneto-electric dynamic rotating torque.
