IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR Function The ECU controls the idle air control stepper motor based on signals received from various sensors. The system is necessary to provide stabilization of the engine and to provide cold fast idle on some applications. Principle The stepper motor is located on the intake air chamber or throttle body. It regulates engine speed by means of a stepper motor and pintle valve which controls the volume of air by-passing the closed throttle valve. Basic specification 1.
