DESCRIPTION OF THE PIECE
AN EMERALD CONGLOMERATE / COMPOSITE, presenting a solid structure of quartz of milky beige colour encased in a layer of schist (predominantly phlogopite) containing many well - preserved hexagonal BERYL crystals (EMERALD), varying from milky green to translucent emerald green. The schist layer was sculpted to expose and emphasize the natural beauty of the piece. The preserved part of dark schist offers an element of contrast against the lighter green crystals. This layer is commonly varnished or treated with oil. We estimate that the schist layer (containing the emerald / beryl crystals) represents approximately *0% of the total weight of the piece, while the remaining *0% consist of quartz and associated minerals.
Colour: This piece presents colours that vary from milky green to bluish green. The green is emphasized by the contrasting presence of the dark schist and quartz matrix.
Clarity: The majority of emerald crystals is of a milky to opaque quality which is to be expected. The clearer crystals are worked with the objective of becoming the focal points of the piece, especially in a display arrangement such as a museum. Some beryl prisms show considerable translucency.
Shape of Crystals: This piece is rich in hexagonal prismatic crystals of a considerable size. The crystals are laid out in a dense pattern on the front of the piece. Further enhancement of the piece may be obtained in accordance with the aesthetic desires of the buyer
