TITANIUM JIGS

 
Any item to be anodized requires reliable jigging.
 
Firstly, to stop the components fall to the bottom of the anodizing tanks.
Secondly, for the safe flow of electrical current from the jig to the work piece.
 
Generally, anodizing jigs are made of Aluminum
 
Disadvantages of Aluminum jigs:
  • Jigs itself get anodized and have to be chemically stripped.
  • The constant anodizing and repeated stripping results in a shortened life.
 
So, we come out with Titanium jigs:
 
Advantages of Titanium jigs
  • Jigs itself do not get anodized and hence no need for chemical stripping.
  • Longer life as there is no constant anodizing and repeated stripping.
 
But, Titanium jigs design and fabrication has to be done with greater care due to the following factors:
 
  • Titanium is far less conductive than Aluminum.
  • Contact points and jig marks need to be larger than the Aluminum jigs to avoid contact burns during processing.
