when Fritz Hansen launched the Ant designed by Arne Jacobsen. The
chair had only 3 legs and no arms!
Nevertheless, revolutionary in ***2 due to shell design with back
and seat made out of one piece of laminated wood with 9 layers of
moulded veneer and 2 layers of cotton textile in-between.

The Ant in more conservative terms referred to as model ***0 with
three legs, or model ***1 with four legs that was added in ***0
2. This design was crated for the chairs used in the dining room of
Novo Pharmaceutical Company. The name was taken from the shape of
the body of the chair, resembling that of an ant. Though the chair
was originally designed with three legs, later models were made
with four legs to provide greater stability. In Japan, very few
three-leg models are being sold. The three-leg model seems to be
more aesthetically attractive from a design point of view, but in
accordance with the P.L. laws of Japan, these models are no longer
being imported.
