Licker-in is also a by-product formed during the processing of raw cotton in the production of yarn. Licker-in being fiber-rich and low cost and makes it ideal for spinning low count yarn.
The most important indicators for laboratory testing of these types of waste are the following:
1. Percentage of the clean fiber to total weight
2. Modal and staple fibers length
3. Percentage content of short fiber (fiber length of less than 8 mm) to the total weight
4. Contents spinnable fibers with a length exceeding *6 mm in relation to the total percentage weight
