Basic
Principle:In
pre-cancer or early cancer stage, abnormal multiplication and
proliferation of cancer cells leading to abnormal body responses
and amino acid metabolism. The tryptophan, tyrosine and metabolic
by products or derivatives like *-Hydroxyindole Acetic Acid and
p-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid etc in urine are found to be much
higher than in normal individual. URC will react with the above
tumor markers in urine to show color change which therefore imply
if there is any cancer cells activity, thus enabling the early
detection and prevention of cancer.
Application:
People from all age
groups, people who is health conscious, people at risk of cancer
**-long term exposure to chemical, tobacco smoking, industrial
pollution etc., people with excessive alcohol consumption and
stressful life style, people who is suspected of cancer, people who
has a family history of cancer, people with cancer who need to
monitor disease progress and treatment outcomes. URC can be used in
hospitals, clinics and homes.
Operation
method:Add
3ml of clean urine specimen into an ampoule with 0.5ml of reagent,
and shake it well and leave it for **5minutes. Compare the color of
precipitate with the standard color plate to determine the
result.
Precautions:
1.    The
reagent is strongly corrosive, please handle it carefully. Please
wash with soap immediately if spill onto skin or clothing. Wash
with clean water at once if spill into the eyes and consult the
doctor if necessary.
2.    If
the result is positive, please get rid of all disturbances within 3
days(i.e. do not drink alcohol or take various medicine, avoid
drinking excess water and eating high protein and amino acid
content of food and health products) and recheck. If the result is
still positive, please go for relevant and detailed examination and
investigation.
3.    In
the event that the color of precipitate is black, it may be due to
jaundice. Please recheck after disappearance of
jaundice.
4.    URC
test should show negative result with patients with benign tumor
like benign hyperplasia of breast or any gynecological related
cysts. Positive result in this group of patients may show
possibility of malignancy. Hence, the patients should take
appropriate measures or interventions. The patients should be
monitored regularly with URC to assess closely the progress of the
disease.
5.    If
URC test shows positive result in patients with gastritis and
peptic ulcer diseases which are accompanied by helicobacter pylori
infection, early stage of stomach cancer is highly suspicious.
Before the development of stomach cancer, helicobacter pylori
should be eradicated and URC test can be used to monitor regularly
and assess closely the progress of disease.
6.    Cancer
patients who have undergone different courses of interventions or
are in severe malnutrition (especially end stage cancer patients)
would not show positive result in URC test easily, as they have
lost the normal body functions and responses.
