Senna Leaf is commonly known as senna or Alexandrian senna.
Senna has been used since the 9th century by Arabian physicians as
a laxative, and subsequently it has been known as the "cleansing
herb." Senna acts as a laxative and is primarily used for
constipation, preoperative cleansing and weight loss, and may also
help with hypertension. Senna can also be used as an
anti-inflammatory, for cellular regeneration, and to treat anal
fissures and hemorrhoids. As a paste, senna can be used to treat
acne,
ringworm and other skin disorders.
Senna products can be used in a variety of pharmaceutical products,
not only as a core ingredient in a laxative, but also to counteract
the common side effect of constipation found in other medicinal
products. Furthermore, Senna is a very popular ingredient in herbal
or traditional teas, either
as a stand-alone ingredient or combined with other ingredients and
flavors.
