Description

 Air pre-heaters are a kind of heat recovery equipment. They are widely used in power plants, as well as petro/chem. plants and metallurgical industry, etc. Its function is to pre-heat the air prior to going into furnace by heat absorption from flue gas so as to increase heat exchange performance   reducing energy consumption.
Air pre-heaters include tube type and rotary type (Ljungstrom type). Rotary air pre-heater is more suitable for large power generating units because of its compact structure and comparatively light weight.
A rotor assembly of rotary air pre-heater includes thousands of heat-transfer    elements. Heat absorption takes place at flue gas side of elements and meanwhile heat release take place at air side of elements when the air pre-heater rotates. In this way the temperature of flue gas emission decreases and pre-heating temperature of air increases.
 For the purpose of high heat transfer efficiency the heat-transfer elements are made of thin steel plates, which are formed into different corrugation.  Sometimes ceramic elements are selected to strengthen anti-corrosion. The heat- transfer elements are expendable parts owing to limited service life. In addition, seal parts are also prone to damage.
