The generator is specifically designed for low speed vertical axis wind turbine applications. The low speed operating range from 0 to **0 RPM allows for direct drive to the wind turbine which eliminates the need for a gearbox and the losses associated with it. Additionally, the generator incorporates a coreless design so there is no magnetic cogging or core losses allowing smooth and very low resistance to rotation for starting. The only resistance to start rotations is the rotor/turbine inertia and the bearing friction. The generator can be enclosed, depending on preference. The generator can also be used in other applications, such as hydroelectricity. The generator can adapt to any electricity generating applications.
