Using the Model D*6 gauge, it is practical to monitor wheel diameter variations during routine scheduled maintenance inspections while the wheel is still mounted on the car or locamotive. The measurement of the diameter is calculated from three data points and shown on the digital display. The Diameter Gauge will quickly measure worn wheel diameters to within 1/2 a tape and can verify the reliability of wheel truing operations.
