Carbomer white loose powder

Kapo **0 is white and loose; It is acidic, hygroscopic and slightly odorous, soluble in water, ethanol and glycerol. The common concentration is 0.1% ~ 3.0%. Due to the large amount of carboxyl group in its molecule, the aqueous solution should be neutralized with alkali to reduce the irritation to skin and mucous membrane.

The neutralizer of Carbopol **0 can be sodium hydroxide, potassium oxyoxide, potassium bicarbonate, borax, amino acids and polar organic amines such as triethanolamine. Laurylamine and Stearylamine can be used as neutralizers in nonpolar systems. After neutralization, Carbomer water gel is the most viscous at pH 6 ~ *1. If pH < 3 or pH ≥ *2, the viscosity will decrease, and the presence of strong electrolyte can also reduce the viscosity. The gel is unstable. It is easy to grow mold and lose its viscosity rapidly when exposed to sunlight. Adding antioxidants can slow down the reaction.

Carbomer **0 has an effective thickening effect, which produces clear and transparent water or ethanol water gel, and its rheological property is very short. It is suitable for all kinds of cosmetics. Such as: moisturizing cream, lotion, cleansing products, sunscreen products, alcohol free perfume perfume conditioner (enhance luster, easy to comb) and so on. Carbomer **0 can produce high efficiency thickening at low dosage (conventional dosage 0.***0.5%), thus preparing emulsion, cream, gel and transdermal preparation with wide viscosity range and different rheology.

·After carbomer neutralization, viscosity loss will be caused by long-term stirring or high shear stirring

·In the presence of ions, electrolytes reduce thickening efficiency

UV - long term ultraviolet irradiation will make the carbomer gel less sensitive to ultraviolet radiation when its viscosity is reduced by pH>/=*0.

Temperature change - carbomer gel is not affected by temperature.
