TONTENÂ TMÂ Walnut shell blasting media is a hard and fibrous product made from crushed walnut shells in accordance with International Trade Standard. The walnut shell blasting medium is ground to various sizes from coarse to extra fine depending the application, allowing for a fine degree of control over the desired finish. Walnut shell is used as an abrasive blast media similar to sand for cleaning, but without the negativities associated with other abrasive materials. Because walnut shell blasting is a gentle, non-corrosive environmentally friendly method of removing foreign matter, coatings, paint, dirt, grime, mold and smoke residue from almost any surface including metal, wood, aluminum, brass, stone, glass, fiberglass, plastic, masonry and tile without scratching, etching, pitting the substrate material / underlying surface or marring cleaned areas. When used as a blasting media, walnut shell grit is extremely durable, angular and multi-faceted, yet is considered a 'soft abrasive'. Walnut shell blasting media is also great for rust free paint removal from sheet metal and for cleaning engines, steam turbines and transmissions. Walnut shell blasting grit is an excellent replacement for sand (free silica) to avoid inhalation health concerns.
ÂAdditionally, walnut shell abrasive media can be used for removing anti-fouling bottom paint from boats, paint from cars and trucks, graffiti from buildings, mold remediation and fire/smoke restoration, and removing baked on carbon deposits from ferrous metals are also capabilities. Walnut shell blasting media can be used for polishing, deburring, deflashing metal finishing as well as paint and coating with minimal effect on the surface being blasted are also fantastic features.
ÂWalnut shell abrasive media is used in both tumbling and vibratory applications for polishing gems and jewelry. Walnut shell abrasive media also works as a de-burring and de-flashing product for molding, casting and electrical parts.
ÂLike other soft media, Walnut shell cleans and removes matter from surfaces without damaging underlying material.
