STARCOLIC™ – Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) Sutures STARCOLIC™ - Polyglycolic Acid Suture (PGA) is a synthetic, absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of **0% glycolide. The chemical formula of STARCOLIC™ Suture is (C2H2O2)n. Clinical trials have shown that after two weeks, approximately *4% of STARCOLIC™ Suture initial strength remained. At four weeks, approximately *3% of STARCOLIC™ RAPID Suture linear tensile strength remained. STARCOLIC™ - Polyglycolic Acid Suture (PGA) has been found to be inert, nonantigenic, nonpyrogenic and elicit only mild tissue reactivity during the absorption process. The absorption time for Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) is *0 to *0 days. STARCOLIC™ - Polyglycolic Acid Sutures (PGA) are available violet and undyed. Special Characteristics of STARCOLIC™ – Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) Sutures: • STARCOLIC™ – Polyglycolic Acid Sutures give the best characteristics of both natural and synthetic sutures, allowing for the low infection rate of a synthetic suture, while providing the quick absorption and high tensile strength of collagen sutures (catguts) • Extraordinary smoothness from proprietary coating • Low friction with tissue and reduces tissue trauma • Excellent handling and knotting characteristics • Clinical trials have shown that after 7 days, approximately *0% of STARCOLIC™ – Polyglycolic Acid Sutures initial strength remained. • All of the original tensile strength lost approximately ****0 days post implantation.
