The Leather Braiding technique has been handed down from one
generation of ''gauchos'' to the next for centuries. The process is
slow and difficult, and it is redeemed by each artisan every time
they give birth to a new piece. It is fundamental to follow every
step to obtain a high-quality product. The leather braider's work
begins by choosing the raw material: the rawhide. Rawhide is
leather in its natural state, completely natural, without chemical
components which could modify its look or feel. Does rawhide keep
the natural color and every feature of the animal's skin, and it is
usually combined with colt leather. The latter gives birth to the
leather strips known as ''tientos'', which are the basic material
for braiding.
