a) | ELECTRIC HEATER: | Low watt density heaters are used to prevent the heat degradation of oil. Heater elements are encapsulated in steel tubes thus completely insulated from oil to prevent a fire hazard. The Heater is controlled by an electronic temperature controller and the oil temperature is thermostatically controlled from *0 to **0 deg. C. |
b) | PRIMARY FILTER: | ASSENÂ utilizes a **0 micron mesh Y-strainer (primary filter) to remove any large particles that could cause premature damage to the system. The filtering element allows high flow rates and has an excellent temperature resistance. |
c) | FINE FILTER*1 | The filter element is made with an advanced synthetic polyester media, which allows high flow rates and has an excellent temperature resistance. The fine filter fineness is 5 micron. |
d) | PROCESSING/VACUUM CHAMBER: | Construction:Â Shell and all internal parts are made of carbon steel and come complete with view port. Vacuum chamber features heavy-duty design, suitable for mobile installation. Suitable framework will help to minimize vibration of the discharge pump and the vacuum pump. |

e) | OILÂ LEVEL CONTROLLER: |
Inside the Vacuum Chamber, an infrared
liquid level controller is utilized to maintain proper oil
level in the vacuum chamber. The control is fully automatic
and will ensure an inlet flow equal to the capacity of the
discharge pump. Â |
f) | VACUUM PUMP: | A powerful Rotary Piston Vacuum Pump is used to create a vacuum in the processing chamber. The pump is direct driven by TEFC electric motor. |
g) | FINE FILTER*2: | Oil receives its final "polishing" treatment by passing through a high performance filtering element. The filter is rated to capture *9.5% of particles greater than1Â micron absolute under ISO ***2 element rating code. |
h) | OIL DISCHARGE PUMP: | A gear pump featuring high suction capabilities removes oil from the processing chamber and discharges the oil through a fine filter before it is directed either through the discharge port or is re-circulated within the system. Directly driven by TEFC motor, the pump is mounted on a common base and comes complete with a relief valve. |
i) | CONDENSER: | The vapor and gases, which are separated from oil in the vacuum chamber, are drawn to the condenser where they are liquefied into water, and then the condensed water is discharged into a water receiver. |
j) | SAMPLING PORTS: | Two (2) sampling ports shall be provided, one for the incoming oil and one for the processed oil. |
k) | INLET & DISCHARGE VALVES: | Manual ball valves are provided for the inlet and discharge connection. |
l) | MANUAL RE-CIRCULATION VALVE: | One manual ball valve is provided for re-circulation purposes. |
m) | PIPING: | All piping shall be carbon steel, sized for the designed flow rate, braced and supported to prevent vibration. Piping will be welded construction when possible, to minimize the potential for leaks. |
n) | INSTRUMENTATION CONTROL PANEL: |
The standard electrical control system
utilizes a control panel, on which several Pilot Lights are
provided to indicate operational status (on/off) of key
components and alarm conditions. At request, an optional
Programmable Logic Controller (P.L.C.) can be provided for
fully automatic operation. |
h) | TRANSFORMER DRY-OUT CONNECTION: | Depending on capacity of the system, a Vacuum Connection is provided for customer hook up to transformer to pull vacuum on transformer. |
STANDARD INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROLS | ||
1 | Temperature Controller | Electronic temperature controller featuring fail safe operation. |
2 | Indicator Gauges | Differential Pressure Gauges are installed to monitor the pressure status of the primary, secondary and fine filtering cartridges Vacuum Indicator Gauge is provided to determine level of vacuum within the chamber. |
3 | Foam Control | Occasional foaming oil can develop under certain circumstances. If the infrared sensor, located in the Vacuum Chamber, detects high foam, a Solenoid Operated Valve will be actuated to break vacuum and thus the foaming will be reduced to acceptable levels. |
4 | ALARMS & INTERLOCKS | ASSENÂ has accounted for potential scenarios that may be encountered out in the field and has provisions for automatic shut down of plant in the case of alarm situation. The following alarms and interlocks ensure simple and safe automatic operation of purifier: |
5 | Optical Probe | Foaming or oil overflow is positively prevented by optical probe. |
6 | Low Level Alarms | One Low Level Switch is installed and is interlocked with the discharge pump to prevent it from operating unless sufficient oil is present. |
7 | High Level Alarms | If high-level condition should occur in the vacuum chamber, the oil feeding will be stopped to prevent flooding of chamber. |
8 | Vacuum Break | Automatic vacuum break with 5 sec. time delay to protect the vacuum pump during the occurrence of foaming. |
