Polyacrylamide is a line type high molecular polymer, its formula is (CH2CHCONH2)n, and abbreviation is PAM. Polyacrylamide can be dissolved in the water easily; however, it is very difficult to dissolve in the general organic solvents, such as benzene, aether, esters and propanone etc. The aqueous solution of PAM is a non-dangerous, viscous liquid with excellent transparence. Solid polyacrylamide has hydroscopic property which will increase ion concentration, but has no toxicity and causticity. PAM has good thermal stability below **0℃, and will not decompose until **0℃.
