Derived from perfluoroalkylethyl iodide which provides a convenient pathway for the introduction of perfluoroalkyl functionality with a hydrocarbon ethyl spacer to a variety of precursors for the purpose of lowering surface energy, increasing chemical stability, and increasing surface lubricity.

is a pale to tan solid that can be used for adding a perfluoroalkyl functionality with a hydrocarbon ethyl spacer to a variety of precursors.

As a primary alcohol, it is a convenient nucleophile for esterification, ethoxylation, phosphation, sulfation, and urethane formation. Primary alcohol can also be oxidized to the corresponding carboxylic acid.
