Insoluble in water, soluble in acid and alkali, slowly soluble in acetic acid, ammonia. Has the strong reducibility, and acid-base release hydrogen.

Be affected with damp be affected with damp agglomerate, stable in dry air and moist air generated in the white of the alkali carbonate and coated the surface.

Blue green flame burning in the air, produce zinc oxide. Reaction with sulfuric acid, nitric acid of high purity is slow, when contain small amounts of other metals such as steel, tin, lead, the reaction rate.
