~~The Canterbury Plains, situated in New Zealands South Island, is the ideal place for producing green barley or barley grass powder. The alluvial soils are young and fertile, the irrigation water is fresh and pure, the air is clean and unpolluted. Coupled with the high UV light, our barley leaves grow deep, green, chlorophyll rich, leaves. Our organic green barley is rich in chlorophyll, the phytochemical that gives leaves, plants and algae their green hues. Claridges New Zealand organic green barley provides high levels of vitamins, minerals and tastes good.
The young cereal grasses barley (and wheat) are nutritionally close cousins to dark green leafy vegetables, but can offer far greater levels of nutrient density. Each gram of these concentrated green foods contain high levels of beneficial vitamins and minerals. Green foods are thought to have beneficial effects on cholesterol, blood pressure, immune response, body alkalysing and cancer prevention. These effects are attributed in part to their high concentrations of chlorophyll.
