About Chip
Brushes
Chip brushes are are very similar to a paint brush. The difference
is, paint brushes may use bristles that will melt when in contact
with certain solvents and are expensive (for the good ones
anyway).This is where chip brushes shine.
They are made with natural China bristles that will hold up to
epoxy, glue, resin, stain, paint remover, cleaners, oils and
more.Chip brushes also have a wood handle so they are firm and
comfortable to use.
The best part, they cost much less than paint brushes so you can
use them to apply sticky, nasty and harsh adhesives or even use
them in a parts cleaner with solvent and when you are done with
them, toss it out.

Type of Bristle:
Synthetic and Natural
Synthetic bristles are very hard wearing, lasting up to 5 times as long as natural bristle brushes.
So it's best to choose a synthetic brush for paint rough
surfaces. As synthetic bristles do not absorb large amounts of water and swell up they Â
do not cause tramlines to appear in the paint. Their structure produces a fine finish on all water-based paints.

Natural bristle has a structure that allows it to take and hold paint within the brush.
It is the best choice for oil-based paints, varnishes,
shellac, alkyd enamels, oil stains, and
oil-based polyurethanes.In addition, the split ends of  bristleÂ
brushes help to produce a fine finish with traditional solvent paints. However, they do not perform well with water-based paints like Vinyl Matt or Satinwood.

Brushes come in many sizes. As a rule of thumb, the larger the area you are painting, the larger the brush that you
should use. Wider 3 inch and 4 inch brushes are
fine for walls and other broad, flat surfaces, but for trimming
around a window sash you'll probably want a **1/*-inch to
**1/*-inch brush. In fact, **1/*-inch angled sash brushes are the
most popular brush because they're comfortable to use and can trim
around most areas.
