Russian style
monuments usually consist of three parts – stele, stand
and tombstone (or flower bed). Stele is the main
element of the monument, because the image and text are engraved on
it. It may be both horizontal and vertical. Classical vertical
stele is commonly ordered when one person is buried or is used as a
part of the memorial complex. Horizontal stele is used when two
people are buried or as a part of a complex. Stand
is a very important element of the monument construction that
is made of the same material as the stele. The last part is
ledgeror flower bed (depends on
client’s request). Flower bed may consist of three, four or five
kerbs of different length and cut. Ledger may be installed instead
of flower bed . In addition to
the above mentioned elements, stone fences become
much more popular. They are used instead of metal fences. Stone
fences do not rust and do not fade in case of appropriate care.
Another important element of Russian monument is
vase. In addition to its common usage as a vase
for natural or artificial flowers, it may become an exquisite
element of the whole monument. The image,
epitaph, first and last name and years of life are usually engraved
on Russian style monuments. Photoceramics (the process of
photographic image transfer to a ceramic plate that is attached to
the monument) is also widely used.
