Lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (Li[N(SO2F)2], LiFSI) was first suggested as conducting salt with good anticorrosive properties for Li-ion batteries by Michel Armand. Compared with LiPF6, LiFSI shows much better stability towards hydrolysis and higher conductivities in carbonate solvents. Moreover, the LiFSI-carbonate electrolyte solutions do not corrode Al, and the passivation of Al can be achieved below 4.2 V vs. Li+/Li.
