Olam entered the hazelnut business through the acquisition of the Progıda Group in Turkey, at the end of ***1. Progıda was founded by Pisani & Rickertsen GmbH, Hamburg in ***8. This acquisition makes Olam one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of natural and semi-finished hazelnut kernels to the global confectionery industries and amongst the top three hazelnut exporters from Turkey.

The acquisition is aligned with Olam’s strategy to become a global leader in the Edible Nuts category. It strengthens Olam’s midstream presence as a value-added ingredient supplier to the confectionery industry, primarily in Europe.
