Salt A for Gun-color(black pearl) Electroplating

PROPERTIES

An elegant and unique Gun-color deposit can be obtained on the bright Nickel layer. At present, it is popular on the international market, widely used on light industrial products, such as watches, lamps, leather decorations and so on.

The deposit has good hardness and resistance to abrasion.

The technique is stable, suitable for both rack- and barrel-plating

TECHNIQUE FORMULATION AND OPERATING CONDITION
Potassium Pyrophosphate K4P2O7	200~250g/L
Gun-color plating Salt A	25~30g/L
Gun-color Agent B	35~40g/L
Gun-color Stabilizer	1~2g/L
Temp.	40~45°C
PH	8.5~9.5
Anode	Graphite
Dk	0.1~2A/dm2
Cathode replacement	Required

BATH MAKE-UP

1 Dissolve potassium pyrophosphate in water of 1/2 total volume, heat it to 50°C.

2 Add salt A into above solution and agitate it to completely dissolve.( it will take long time because of slowly dissolution)
3 Add agent B and stabilizer, agitate evenly, then eletrolysis for several hours, try plating.

BATH MAINTENANCE

1. The technique is stable, periodic analysis is made for daily maintenance and adjust K4P2O7 content, replenish replenishing agent of salt A and agent B according to the consumption.

The consumption as follows:
Replenishing agent of salt A	4kg/KAH
agent B	2kg/KAH

2.Because the Gun-color deposit is obtained on bright nickel or other bright deposit, bright nickel deposit must be very bright, when malfunction occurs, it is checked first. Narrow range of brightness will produce because salt A is not fully dissolved, it leads to problems coming from newly-prepared bath. Please pay attention to that.

During production, pay attention whether technique condition is among its scale, PH value is not permitted below 8.5, if so, K4P2O7 hydrolyses easily, adjust PH value with acetic acid or potassium hydroxide.
Bath must be filtered once every month and treated by activated carbon every half a year.
