Application Fuses are primarily used for the protection of cables and conductors against overloads and short-circuit currents, regard-less of level, and are also suitable for the protection of equipment and systems. Amongst the many tasks and different uses for fuses, are the following included; A high measure of selectivity available in radial and ring networks for the avoidance of unnecessary operational faults For protection of motor circuit in which operational short-term overloads and short-circuits can appear short circuit protection for switching devices such as contactors and circuit breakers For TN and TT-networks where disconnection by means of the normal over current protection arrangement, fuses in the event of a fault prevent the continuation of dangerously high touch voltages. The field of application for fuses is wide and extends from residential installations to applications in commercial buildings, industrial installations, power supply utilities, equipment manufacturers, and are also incorporated in switchboards and control panels. Operating Class The function of the fuse determines its operating class.
