Filament-wound (filament winding) fiberglass tubes and
fiberglass tubing provide a very high strength-to-weight ratio,
excellent electrical insulation properties and high resistance to
corrosion. Special resin formulations and filament winding
patterns have been developed to meet
applications such as: Filament wound tubes have exceptional
inter-laminar shear strength and can be machined to very close
tolerances. Tubes weighing half as much and with equal strengths
as similar size aluminum tubes may have *3% thinner wall
thickness.Â
Glass/epoxy resin ratios, winding tensions, and pre-determined
winding angles provide exceptional directional strength
properties. Various epoxy resin formulations are available with
**5°C, **5°C, **0°C, **0°C and cryogenic continuous use
ratings.Â
Tubes can be made with IDs as small as .**7 and as large as *8
Dia. Standard lengths are *8, *0 and *6, depending on the ID size
and some sizes can be made in longer lengths.
