1 Background
In the *1stcentury ,a major environmental issue all mankind
confront is that along with the popularization of fertilizer and
high temperature effects caused by industrial fuel ,the extracting
speed of nitrogen in the air by human-beings is twice than
that before the industry revolution resulting in serious
environmental problems such as global warming, acid rain ,water
eutrophication and so on .Therefore, controlling nitrogen
cycle is regarded as one of *4 engineering challenges in the
*1st century all mankind confront by the National Academy of
Engineering in the United States.
According to the statistics of International Fertilizer
Industry Association, more than *0% of nitrogen go into atmosphere,
surface water and groundwater through volatilization, runoff and
leakage before absorbed by crops ,forming the tridimensional
pollution “from earth to air”!
Leakage of the fertilizer into ground results in over
contents of nitrate in underground water which drive the citizens
drinking the water to suffer from gastrointestinal disorders and
even cancer, flowing into rivers and lakes results in the eruption
of lake blue algae and near-shore red tide. Besides, volatilization
leads to acid rain and green house gas emission *1% of which is
agricultural green house gas emission.
2 Invention of fertilizer nutrient loss-control technology
The scientists of Key Laboratory of Ion-Beam Bioengineering of
Chinese Academy of Sciences, based on controlling the loss of
fertilizer nutrient, put forward the new theory different from the
coated fertilizer and slow/controlled-release fertilizer. It is a
new kind of fertilizer enclosed by internal-molecular networks with
6 Chinese invention patent rights applied or got.
3 Chief introduction to fertilizer nutrient loss-control
agent
Fertilizer nutrient loss-control agent, a kind of odorless,
tasteless, innoxious solid powder, means the additive which can
control fertilizer nutrient loss and improve fertilizer quality .In
addition, it is the key to fertilizer loss-control technology. The
scientists invent loss-control agent by modifying the natural
materials in a physical and biological way as well as combining
many kinds of materials accurately. In aqueous phase, loss-control
fertilizer can self-assemble to form a complex three-dimensional
micro-nano-scale interpenetrating network. Thus it can immesh and
fix the fertilizer nutrient around the roots of crops by hydrogen
bonds, van der Waals force and viscous force, so that it can
dramatically decrease the nutrient loss and increase the
utilization rate of fertilizer.

3.2 Application scope
Loss-control agent can be widely applied
to fertilizer enterprises and all kinds of granulation crafts such
as rotary drum granulator, disc granulator, ammoniation granulator,
tower granulator, extruding granulator and so on for its easy
manufacturing techniques without having to transform the production
line. Besides, after measured proportionally, loss-control agent
can be appended to all kinds of compound fertilizer, BB fertilizer,
and organic fertilizer producing efficient protecting environmental
loss-control fertilizer.
3.3 Application effects:
1 Loss-control agent can control *0.2% of
ammonium chloride, *1.3% of urea, *3.7% of ammonium phosphate, and
*1.4% of potassium chloride when compounded with fertilizer. The
loss-control ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in
compound fertilizer reaches *7.3%ã€ï¿½*4.6% and
*3.8% respectively. The experiments show that there is *7.8%
reduction of the total nitrogen content in run-off water, *0%
reduction of the total nitrogen content in leaching water ,
*7% **2% reduction of ammonia in volatilization and 3%~9%
reduction of nitric oxide.
2 In aqueous phase, loss-control fertilizer can
self-assemble to form a complex three-dimensional micro-nano-scale
interpenetrating network. Thus it can immesh and fix fertilizer
nutrient around the roots of crops by hydrogen bonds, van der Waals
force and viscous force enlarging the spatial scale and decreasing
the migration rate and volatilization rate of fertilizer nutrient
inside the soil, so that it can dramatically decrease the nutrient
loss and increase the utilization rate of fertilizer.
And over the 4 years , lots of provincial Agri-technique extension
stations , soil and fertilizer stations ,CAS system , large and
medium fertilizer enterprises and farms have been continuously
authorized to conduct demonstration field-experiments on
wheat, rice, corn, cotton, vegetable and so on. A great number of
true scientific statistics have been achieved through **7
experiment plots,**9 demonstration plots and a few million mu of
demonstration field-lands.
Crop production fails to decrease at the *0%**0% reduction of
loss-control fertilizer and the production of corn, vegetable of
short growing season increases by 5% **0% in comparison with common
fertilizer. According to analysis of the soil after the growing
season, the nitrogen retention rate of loss-control fertilizer is
*1% higher than that of common fertilizer. Crop production that
used loss-control fertilizer increases over *0% more than that only
used common fertilizer in the growing areas at equal fertilizer
nutrient.
The new-type protecting environmental loss-control fertilizer agent
has the advantages of controlling nutrient, saving fertilizer,
enhancing efficiency, saving labor and protecting environment over
common fertilizer.
