The most important new characteristic is the filterability
temperature. It shows at what temperature the diesel will harden
and ruin the filters. Before that, you could use diesel in winter
without fear of damaging the engine. For the new fuel it's down to
**4° C. If before it could freeze even at **0° C, now its
temperature tolerance is wider. You don't have to worry about your
car and don't bother the Webasto unnecessarily.
Blurring temperature has been lowered as well. Now it ranges from
**0° to **4°. Up to this temperature, the fuel will show maximum
efficiency and give consistently high efficiency with minimum
residue in the exhaust.
One more new requirement is the cetane number, analog of the octane
number for gasoline. It went up to *9 versus *5 before. This means
that diesel will burn better and give higher efficiency.
