Metal aluminium slabs or rolling ingot may be formed by a casting process which utilizes a vertically oriented mold situated above a large casting pit beneath the floor level of the metal casting facility. Liquid metal is poured through a spout into a mould, where the metal freezes to form a slab or ingot operation. The flow of metal through the spout is controlled by a control pin that is located within the spout. The control pin may be raised to increase the rate of flow of metal through automatic actuator, or lowered to decrease or interrupt the flow of metal. DPFS is the idea materials for control pins and spouts for slabs or ingots casting. It is able to withstand the high temperature of the molten metals, its extremely fine-grained, sintered composition of higher purity fused silica provides both outstanding wear properties and excellent thermal shoch resistance.
