Aluminum Conductor(AAC)
Application
The conductors are suitable for use
in spans on wood poles, transmission towers,and other structures
where tensile strength and temperature ratings are not required.
Application range from extra high voltage(EHV) transmission lines
to sub-service spans at distribution or utilization voltages on
private premises.
AAC(All aluminum conductor) is the
most economical bare overhead conductor due to its lighter weight.
It offers easier handing during installation and use of simpler
fittings. The conductor is corrosion resistant due to its
homogeneous construction.

Construction
Aluminum ***0 wires are
concentrically stranded and wrapped helically around a central
wire. Each successive layer has six wires more than the previous
underlying layer. Outer layer is right hand lay and reversed in
successive layers.

Application
The conductors are suitable for use
in all practical spans on wood poles, transmission towers,and other
structures. Application range from extra high voltage(EHV)
transmission lines to sub-service spans at distribution or
utilization voltages on private premises.
ACSR(Aluminum Conductor Steel
Reinforced) has a long service record because of its economy
,dependability, and strength to weight ratio. The combined light
weight and high conductivity of aluminum with strength of the steel
cores enable higher tensions ,less sag,and longer spans than any
alternative.

Aluminum ***0 wires and the steel
cores are concentrically stranded and wrapped helically around a
central wire. The additional corrosion protection is available
through the application of grease to the cores or infusion of the
complete cable with grease.

All Aluminum Alloy Conductor(AAAC)
Application
Used as bare overhead conductor for
primary and secondary distribution. Designed utilizing a
high-strength aluminum alloy to achieve a high strength-to-weight
ratio; affords better sag characteristics. Aluminum alloy gives
AAAC higher resistance to corrosion than ACSR.

Construction
Standard ****-T*1 high strength
aluminum conductors, conforming to ASTM Specification B***9, are
concentric-lay-stranded, similar in construction and appearance to
***0 grade aluminum conductors. Standard ***0 alloy conductors are
similar to other alloy conductors commercially known as Ardival,
Aldrey or Almelec. They were developed to fill the need for an
economical conductor for overhead applications requiring higher
strength than that obtainable with ***0 grade aluminum conductors,
but without a steel core. The DC resistance at *0 °C of the
****-T*1 conductors and of the standard ACSR of the same diameter
are approximately the same. Conductors of the ****-T*1 alloys are
harder and , therefore, have a greater resistance to abrasion than
conductors of ****-H*9 grade aluminum.

carrying capacity,higher strength and a lower conductor weight are
critical to the line design.

The aluminum conductor alloy
reinforced(ACAR) has concentrically stranded aluminum ****-H*9 wire
around a ****-T*1 aluminum alloy core. Typically, the ****-T*1 is
the conductor core,but in certain designs, the ***0 H*9 and the
****-T*1 wires may be stranded in the same
layer.
