Feature
**1: Cr-Mn stainless steel balls, with properties similar to AISI
**2/**4 balls (slightly higher mechanical characteristics). Balls
are provided in the passivated condition.
**4: Unhardened austenitc stainless steel balls, they display good
mechanical characteristics, toughness and corrosion resistance.
AISI **4L provides lower carbon content, AISI **2 better mechanical
characteristics. Balls are provided in the passivated
condition.
**6: Austenitic stainless steel balls with higher corrosion
resistance than AISI **4 balls. They show good toughness. AISI **6L
has a lower carbon content (maximum 0,**0%). Balls are provided in
the passivated condition.
**0C: Martensitic hardened stainless steel balls, they feature good
hardness, corrosion resistance, wear and abrasion resistance. Balls
are provided in the passivated condition.
**0C: Martensitic hardened stainless steel balls, they feature
remarkable hardness, wear resistance, surface finishing, narrow
dimensional tolerances. For that reason this type of steel is
frequently used in precision devices. Balls are provided in the
passivated condition.
Corrosion Resistance
**1: Similar to the corrosion resistance of AISI **2/**4
materials.
**4: Very good corrosion resistance with respect to organic
substances, oxidating solutions, foodstuff, sterilizing solutions.
Good resistance with respect to atmospheric corrosion and dyes.
They are subjected to pitting and crevice corrosion in presence of
hot chloride solutions and to stress corrosion when temperature
exceeds *0°C. They do not resist to sulfuric acid solutions. AISI
**2 shows slightly best corrosion resistance with respect to AISI
**4/**4L stainless steels.
**6: Very good corrosion resistance with respect to organic
substances, good resistance to several strong acids (acetic,
phosphoric, sulphuric acid) and on sea water. They are subjected to
pitting and crevice corrosion in presence of hot chloride solutions
and to stress corrosion when temperature exceeds *0°C. They do not
resist in contact with hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids, aqua
regia, iron and magnesium chlorides.
**0C: Good corrosion resistance in industrial atmosphere,
freshwater, steam, alcool, ammonium, several oilfield products and
organic compounds, dairy products, mild acid environments. Fairish
in foodstuff and alkaline solutions. Fair in salt atmosphere. It
does not resist in contact with sea water and strong acids (even if
diluted).
**0C: The material resists to corrosion in contact with freshwater,
steam, oil, petrol, alcohol. They are subjected to pitting
corrosion in sea water environments. Poor corrosion resistance in
acid environments.
Application
**1: Special bearings, automotive components, switches, die casting
devices. They are widely used in the electronic industry.
**4: Special bearings and pumps, aerosol pumps, gardening and
household sprayers, perfume miniature pumps, seams, medical
application valves, agricultural backpack sprayers. They are used
in foodstuff, aerospace and military industry.
**6: Special bearings, pumps and valves, aerosol and dispenser
sprayers. Utilised in the foodstuff, paper, chemical, rubber,
military, textile industry. Applications in photographic devices,
medical instruments, quick couplings, recirculating balls, ink
cartridges, jewels.
**0C: Special bearings, anti-friction bearings, special pumps,
recirculating balls, lighters, pens, automotive seatbelts &
components.
**0C: Precision bearings, anti-friction bearings, special valves,
conveyor belts and rollers, ballpoint pens. They are used in
foodstuff, medical instruments, quick couplings, recirculating ball
bearings, knotting devices, oil refinery devices.

Hollow Ball: Hollow balls are typically used for weight sensitive
applications such as aircraft ball transfer units, liquid float

Shipping

Production Flow
Heading: A coil of wire is cut to the required length and each
piece compressed and shaped into balls using a pressing
machine.
Flashing: The surface of the balls is ground to remove the bands
generated in the heading process.
Heat Treatment: After the bands have been removed, the balls are
quenched adn tempered to give them sufficient strength and
durability.
Grinding: In addition to removing parts decarburized in the heat
treatment, this process adjusts dimensional precision and finishes
the balls to the stipulated dimensional difference.
First Lapping: The dimensional precision of the balls is further
improved and they are finished to the specified dimensional
difference.
Second Lapping: In addition to increasing the balls' dimensional
precision to grade level, this process gives the surface of the
balls a smooth, glass like finish.
Visual Inspection: All of the finished steel balls and all of their
surface visually inspected automatically. These visual inspection
ensure that the balls supplied to customers have no flaws.
Packaging: Balls that pass visual inspection are treated with
anti-corrosive oil and then packed in paperboard boxes.
Quality Assurance
After precision washing, oiling & before packing sample balls
from the batch are sent for final audit to check for surface
roughness, roundness, waviness, lot size variation and hardness in
a sophisticated laboratory, according to specified control plans
and dock audit procedures. Once all requirements are met, a test
certificate is then prepared for the customer. Our sophisticated
laboratory is equipped with high precision, worldwide respected
machines and equipment and is managed by properly trained and
qualified personnel.
